Summit High School students will come together on Dec. 12 to enjoy “Elf on the Turf,” one of the newest and most exciting holiday events of the year. If you’ve never been to “Elf on the Turf,” the event is exactly what it sounds like: students will gather in the indoor turf gym and watch the Christmas classic “Elf.” The event is free to all students, and Student Leadership will be selling snacks to enjoy during the movie.
The tradition began in 2024 when Izzy Rowe, SHS’ former student body president, proposed the idea. Student Leadership wanted to host an event that would bring students together during the holiday season and also support future school programs. “Elf on the Turf” does just that: it engages the student body through a fun experience and raises funds for school events like Spring Fest.
The Student Leadership team has worked hard to make it happen for the second year in a row and this year’s event comes with a twist! Summit High School will be having a Spirit Week from Dec. 8 to 12 with daily themes that Student Leadership cannot wait to reveal!
“I’m really excited about our spirit week happening on the same week [as ‘Elf on the Turf’],” said Vanessa Gonzalez, SHS’ current student body president. “We picked some awesome spirit themes!”
“Elf on the Turf” is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season. So, grab a blanket and some friends, and come join us on the turf!
